Northern Cali - where to fly?

Im heading down to Santa Rosa to take my paramedic test next week, which means that I can finally put the books down and get back to flying! I plan on taking my time going home and drive up the coast on Hwy 1/101 from Santa Rosa to Coos Bay, then head back to the 5.

Somewhere along the way I want to stop for a little dual and do some sightseeing. Anyone familar with the coastal airports or could recommend a good FBO that rents aircraft?
I saw Santa Rosa has 3 FBO's that rent aircraft. Any local knowledge on which one is better to deal with?

Thanks

Matt

Coos Aviation in Coos Bay will treat you right, and the scenery is pretty good for the coast. They always have one of the best fuel prices around...

Highway 1 is awesome, especially your first time on it. If you get a chance head out to Dillion Beach. It's off the beaten path about 6 miles past Tomales. I proposed to my wife there and we go back every year and spend the day out there. Santa Rosa is a nice place to fly out of too but it's Towered and can get fairly busy.

Go take a trike ride with Michael at Spirits Up at the Petaluma airport. I took a ride with him years ago at Santa Ynez and it was a lot of fun, plus he is a character.

Thanks for the ideas guys, I will call around tommorrow and see who can fit me in.

AvidFlyer - I have a campsite reserved just up the coast at Bodega Bay, so I will be sure to check out Dillion Beach. Off the beaten path is right up my alley.........
