Note to leave on plane when parked somewhere....

From time to time I leave the plane parked places where a plane may be unexpected to anyone else, however unlikely it is others may even see it. I'm not worried so much about theft or vandals, more a well meaning good Samaritan hitting 911 on his cell phone. This situation came up again this weekend, and it being memorial day weekend, I came up with this note I left stuck in the door where in the remote chance anyone approached the airplane they could not miss it:

BROTHER JAMES, I GOT HERE EARLY AND AM TAKING A SHORT BIKE RIDE. SEE YOU AND THE OTHERS SOON, I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING HOW A 3 TOUR MARINE SCOUT SNIPER CAN SHOW ME HOW TO SHOOT MY NEW RIFLE, HOPE YOU DIDN'T FORGET TO BRING IT!

I put a time and date on it. I figured this did two things, let anyone know it wasn't any kind of "problem", and also would give pause to any potential dinks about fooling with the plane, though as I said before that is way down on my list of concerns. It also paid homage to my older brother who was indeed a 3 tour scout sniper in the Vietnam conflict, so an element of truth, he's still alive and doing well BTW! I thought of working in some mention of Chuck Norris, but thought that may be going over the top a bit.

Chuck Norris doesn't go over the top, the top gets under Chuck Norris.

Sounds like a pretty good idea.

Good one!!!! I've had people dump stuff like an old deep freeze, bed spring, dehumidifier, etc out at the farm and been thinking of putting a sign up that says----- make sure you smile for your picture.

CG, didn't mean to derail your topic. Just couldn't pass it up. I'd love to hear what others have left with the airplane while exploring.

I'm telling my solar water pumping customers that are worried about someone messing with their expensive equipment that are in the middle of no where to invest in a quality sign and a fake video camera, along with some verbiage indicating that the camera is motion activated and wireless transmitted to a off site location, so SMILE.

Thanks for correcting me on Mr. Norris's rightful place in the scheme of things!

That's a good one, I really believe they work, when I've had my gear and tent at a remote area in the desert I'll leave a note pinned to the tent, " MIKE, I'M ON THE HILL SIGHTING IN MY NEW RIFLE SCOPE, WAVE IF YOU NEED ME TO COME DOWN, I CAN SEE YOU PERFECTLY" Never found anything disturbed.

I'm adding a note pad and tape to the airplane equipment list - these are great ideas!

Leaving a note about Military sharpshooters will be seen as a ruse by at least some percentage of bandits. Way too obvious, unless you actually do have WWHunter hanging around in the woods near the airplane

I'd put a note on the plane saying "Bob, I'll be back within 30 minutes, you and Henry stay close to the plane until I'm back."

This tells people that someone is probably within earshot of the plane, and it also raises a question in their mind that the owner might be back any moment (without specifying when).

Don't bother trying to psych people out-- just cut to the chase:
"I'm nearby, and if you fuck with my airplane I will hunt you down and cut your heart out with a dull spoon."
If that's too hard-core for you, add a kissy-face emoji.

 =D> I think I'm going to have that printed on a laminated card to put on the dash.

Re: Note to leave on plane when parked somewhere....

Part, most actually, of my notes intent was to assure a good Samaritan that all was well, no need to call for " help." The sniper thing was just an afterthought, even there I tried to keep it friendly. Too aggressive of a note could be a challenge to some aholes. Or, piss off the good Sam.

Maybe one of these, with a little ketchup on the window ;)

Or a little open box with "zika Mosquitos DO NOT OPEN"
