I take back the "odd question" comment! I don't hunt, and fly only in the lower 48. Put in the context of hunting in Alaska, NO, I wouldn't land. The poll makes more sense now. I've heard about what goes on up there when that happens Down here, hunting issues aside, I'd land for sure as long as I thought they were just out screwing around, like me.

Several years ago I happened upon a forlorn figure standing on a Knik River gravel bar next to a Cub resting on one main gear, the tail, and the nose. I made a few orbits (I had my wife and a few family friends and their grandson riding along in the 206 on a bit of a sightseeing tour) sizing up the landing area and the size/firmness of the gravel and had just decided I could land and depart safely with that load when a few other cubs landed. They must have run down to the closest Atlee Dodge store to pick up a new gear leg for the poor guy, so I just stayed out of it and continued on my way. I won't normally land someplace just because someone else did. In retrospect I began to wonder what caused that mishap and if landing wouldn't have brought the same shame on myself...it must have been softer than it looked!
