Oil price and from whom
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
I just ordered a case of W100 Aero Shell + from ACS and it came to $93 shipped to my door. Does this sound alright to you? Where do we buy our oil around the west coast here?
Thanks
EB

72 at the FBO here. No busted oil cans from UPS shipment, keeps $$ local, and it is always there. no planning required. They cut my filter for free when I buy there as well.

The last case of Phillips XC 20w-50 I picked up at Gustin Aviation at LWS about 6 month ago was $58, including tax (no shipping).

Is there a petroleum distributor (aka bulk plant) around nearby? I buy my oil from Pettit il in Port Angeles & theyre usually cheaper than any of the FBO's, and they'll drop it off right at my house for free. I paid like $57 a case for Phillips XC20-50 just a week or so.

I've seen Aeroshell at Wallmart sometimes, check your local oil distributor in the yellow pages, they might work with you. We get ours thru our distributor that we buy our products for our auto and truck repair shop. Ifyou are a good customer with an auto repair shop they might get you some at cost, we have several customers that we do that for.

In Portland I buy 80W from the distributor. It was around $50 for the last case. In Bend where I used to live it, I tried that and they charged me $75.
The guy selling it to me noted the irony of my putting it on the rack of my bicycle to get it to the airport.
I shudder to think what a drum is going to cost when we finish the 195 and oil changes are in the 5-6 gallon range. Yikes, or rather...ouch!

He's in the Air Race Association Hangar. I'm going to put some paint on his cowl and get him ready for his May annual. Weather has been fantastic ain't it!!
