Oregon Coast Vacation Spots

A few friends are heading to Oregon at different times this summer to vacation (driving, not flyers). I wanted to ask those of you in the know what the best coastal locations are to vacation in. They have kids ranging in age from 8 to 16. :) They won't be camping so hotel and restaurant recommendations are also appreciated as well as things to see and do. Evergreen and the museum/Water park are already on their list. Southern WA is also a possible destination.

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Oregon Coast Vacation Spots

I've been to Long Beach, WA a couple times. My family (living in WA) goes at least once a year for about a week. It is right on the Oregon border and is a great place. Lots of sandy beaches and lighthouses to explore. On the Oregon side is where Lewis and Clark finished their journey and a really neat old ship museum in the Oregon town right across the border (Astoria). Cape Disappointment, right there btw the two states, is aka "the graveyard of ships" because so many have sunk in that area.

Seaside if you want the largest beach town in Oregon. Party town. Shilo Hotel.

Tillamook for the air museum, and cheese factory tours.

Coos Bay for sand dunes and sand toy rentals, quads. Golf Bandon Dunes

Pacific City for Beer (Pelican Pub)and sit on the beach, small town. I go here a lot. Personal favorite! Airport in the center of town. Inn at Cape Kawanda

Remember what our old Governor Tom McCall said.

"We want you to visit our State of Excitement often. Come again and again. But for heaven's sake, don't move here to live. Or if you do have to move in to live, don't tell any of your neighbors where you are going." LOL

Thanks for the input, Rob & Delta. I'll pass your recommendations along so they can spend their hard-earned dollars in your state! :D
