Oregon-legal flying off my own grass

Hi all.
I'm having trouble finding what's needed to fly a STOL off my own grass strip for non-commercial use in Oregon. Does it need to be registered as an airport, minimum requirements?
I found some small farms that should have plenty of space 1500' clear on both ends, but I don't know if I can use it for flying.
I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
thanks!

I'd like to know any laws regarding this in WA since I'm heading that way.

Farmland, far away from city limits and restricted airspace.

Oregon-legal flying off my own grass

By state law it is legal. That is recreational use for you. If you run a business or open to friends you are headed into a gray area. Each county has their regs. Multnomah adopted the state regs way back in 1986. If you could register it and get our government masters permission that might be worth pursuing. I'm landing in my hay field. I don't have to fly over anyone's house on short final or take off.

FANTASTIC! - Thanks!
I'll just check with the county laws about personal recreational use . I'll also try to register the strip, the insurance company may like that.
I'm planning on locating someplace outside the Eugene area - should be OK.

I also looked at getting a small farm/grass strip in Wisconsin. In that state, all airplanes must takeoff from a registered airport. But it also seems like people are willing to help to get it all done correctly.

This makes me think laws are different in every state. I still have a little time before I must commit to 1 location.

That works fine until somebody (neighbors) start bitching.
Then you could encounter issues with county zoning, noise ordinances, etc.
Even if there's no laws specifically against it,
govt agencies are spring-loaded to answer NO,
unless you can come up with something that specifically says yes, it's legal.
Best thing would be talk to neighbors first--
free airplane rides (esp for kids & grandkids) sometimes does wonders.

I just land in one of my pastures. Did not ask for permission.
