I missed out on getting to the float plane base at Oshkosh this year. When my wife and I drove there in 2006 we took a bus from the main show grounds to see the float planes. It was a highlight of the trip (other than buying our Tundra kit) The atmosphere at the float plane base is more relaxed and uncrowded. We could sit in the shade and watch the planes come in and it was a welcome break from pounding our feet through the crowd along the tarmac on a hot afternoon. Thanks for posting, its a great reminder of the other world of backcountry flying, one I hope to try out in the future.

Lynn Sanderson (Dirtstrip) passed away from natural causes in May 2013. He was a great contributor and will be missed dearly.
