Ouch! Parking brake? I never set it.

He had just returned from flying, swung the plane around in front of his hangar so he could pull it in tail first. Shut down. Hopped out. And at some point is plane started to roll forward. Second-hand information; he said he never sets his parking brake...never had a problem before.
Note: the apron has a very visible slope to it.

Prop (bent), fuselage (crushed), accessory case teardown (I don't know what it's really called but the back of the engine on a Lycoming that by way of AD has to be torn down for inspection any time the prop touches anything, running or not, visible damage or not). Oh, and neighbors hangar wall patched.

Flying is dangerous. If you think otherwise, you are new at this sport. Mind the gravity not the gap.

I have sprayed behind several O-540 Lycoming engines that had the prop straightened and flange dialed. That was long ago,but still a tough engine.

Embarrassing....! I bet there were some four letter words invented that day.

OK I'll start....
I think that anyone who "always" or "never" does something, does themselves a disservice e.g. parking brake, three point, etc. One definition of intelligence is being able enough to correct your behaviour for changing circumstances.

Yep... staring at my parking brake here on my desk; it will be installed in my homebuilt. I think they're very useful but it does add some complexity to the system.

Looks like that Mooney would have been [somewhat] fine if it hadn't dropped the belly on the asphalt curb as it rolled off the bank. Ouch.

Our tail dragger never stops flying until secured...

Land: have chocks, tie downs and parking brake ready (check wind direction before taxi/shutdown).

Sea: have paddle, bow/stern lines, fenders, and anchor ready (check wind direction before taxi/shutdown).

Snow: stop only on solid flat snow (check wind direction and forecast)
