Out of the paint shop and flying again

Yes, you could say I am a proud papa!

Left the paint shop and flew back to KTRK were it was very "sporty" to say the least upon arrival. Nothing quit like NOT flying for the past 2 1/2 months and finding out you need to land in a wind that is changing its mind like a woman... Almost made a go around but end up settling in and then drying my hands offs on my pants... #-o Gusting 20 plus straight across the runway from both sides then up my tail and quartering from every direction. Oh how I love flying in the mountains. Needless to say I taxied to the hanger and put her away. BUT, I then found myself back at the hanger this evening burning gas and getting the new paint muddy and full of cow shit. Im an addict...seriously...

Anyhow, went out to a few spots on my circuit. Wind was still blowing a bit but not bad. Just being back on the air and burning a lap on the North Circuit left me very satisfied.

Here she is. Out of the shop and back in the dirt only to find myself later on scrubbing her for an hour or so to get her back to pristine!

Great to see you flying again Kev. You inspired a bunch of us to dig into our airplanes... Glad to see the bird back in the air. Keep up the pics!

Looks beautiful! I love the aggressive, yet classic look; a perfect blend. Well done buddy, can't wait to read about your endless flying adventures this summer.

Make sure you post your first scratch/dent. As much fun you have with that 180 it is only a matter of time.

Looks awesome man!

Man, Kevin, that thing is so sexy! Looks awesome!

I'd love to hear your feelings on the 31's vs the 29's once you get some more time on them. If you're looking to sell your old 29's... [-o<

Awesome! Happy for you! Mine will be going down for a few weeks for some radio work soon. I'm already dreading it and will be a bit grumpy I suspect when I can't fly it. Don't know how you guys do it for months!

Re: Out of the paint shop and flying again

That paint scheme is probably my all time favorite scheme on Cessna taildraggers, even better when what you have in white is polished metal, BUT, having helped polish a friend's 170 in this scheme once, I can say without reservation that you definitely made the right decision :D

It looks great.
