Outgoing AOPA president's closing sentence;

"I do hope there is a bit more backcountry flying in my future as this group of aviators is filled with some of the best the general aviation community has to offer"

He put in 5 years and probably retired to "hopefully fly more backcountry" Makes sense to me.

Probably needed a change of pace after zipping around the country in the AOPA Citation. #-o



Here's hoping the new leadership will reevaluate that particular expenditure.

Do you think he's on here incognito? I'm sure he at least lurks (like the rest of the world :D ). And I'm sure he's a nice guy even if he was lucky enough to have a job that allowed travel on a jet! Welcome back to the backcountry Craig.

I'm the AOPA ASN volunteer at Pacific City. At the AOPA convention in Palm Springs last year Craid spoke to the ASN volunteers and took questions. I ask Craig what he thought about backcountry flying and dealing with the RAF. You could tell instantly he was truly excited about our type of flying and camping. I enjoyed listening to him, he is very knowledgeable about politics related to flying.

So he is likely one of the many lurkers that enjoy this site? Makes sense. If so, I am personally proud and happy if he has more than a casual interest in what goes on here, and what we do/are all about.
I think he would have to have pretty thick skin to join us on our fly-ins. We should welcome him if he does, tho. He has been trashed in the past on here way more than he likely deserves, but I think/hope we can all keep perspective on this.... (NO ONE in a position of responsibility can keep everyone happy, and is bound to alienate at least some with their positions/priorities/decisions-absolute fact of life).
I say kudos =D> if he if he become an active member, and accept him for who he is on a personal level.

Hell, I manage to piss people off with absolutely no power, nor making decisions that can effect anything significant.
How about you?
