Re: Overloaded 172

Very sad. It was a 182 and it looked like the pilot had an opportunity to save it…...

Re: Overloaded 172

His best opportunity to save it was when he was loading the plane. This was posted before quite a while back but it is good to be reminded of stupid stuff now and then.

We need a forum for how we ruined stuff by doing stupid stuff. I would be the first. Or I could just start it with "I heard a story around a campfire once"

Re: Overloaded 172

It might have been overloaded but it looks like the plane was doing it's job until the pilot gave up the wind advantage.

Re: Overloaded 172

When the mains came off, he appears to try to climb and bank to miss people. He needed to be able to pitch the nose down to stay in low ground effect. He might have been able to make cross controlled wings level rudder turns to miss the people and use the remaining obstacles clear area.

Re: Overloaded 172

I was wondering if the DA and humidity were underestimated (along with W/B). Very tragic. The video was hard for me to watch. Sad.

Thank you for the post.

In some ways it runs hand in hand with the cornfield thread

it look's the same, but in this the pilot tried to climb and unfortunately went further down the error chain.
