Passed instrument check ride today

6.5 hours and was damn hard. We only did three approaches but I had never flown two of them. Only had 1 go on the ils that I flew prior to today. Very glad to have that over with. Now to shekels for commercial this week.

Re: Passed instrument check ride today

Ington6,

First let me tell you what I was told when I passed the instrument check ride. My instructor congratulated me and said, "you know, that wasn't really the check ride. That was just a check to allow you to take the REAL ride. The real check ride is when you go into the soup all by yourself. I'm not there. The examiner isn't there. It's just you and your instruments to find the way."

I'll never forget it and he was right. The first time I went IMC with no backup pilot I realised he was spot on and that was the true check ride. Ah, memories. Thank you for that...

Second, you should have posted this under the original thread under "Theroy, Practice and Procedures" so others could keep track of your progress.

Anyway, congrats!

Fly safe,

GP

I used to think the brain was the best organ in the human body. Then I realized who was telling me that.

Congratulations, the instrument is probably the most important ticket you can get.
