I am saddened to report the death of Paul Bowmar from Escalante, Utah. He was flying his C-140(?) and hit a power line a few miles south of the Boulder dirt strip.

His wife is planning to host a Fly-in memorial some time in June at his hanger in Escalante for any and all of Paul's flying buddies.

Damn, very sad. Was he a user here on BCP?

I am not sure. But I recall he helped keep the Bolder, Utah strip in shape. Maybe he was part of Utah Back Country. I couldn't post there. If someone has a current membership with them they might pass it on.

This was very sad. I wondered how a guy who fly's that area daily could hit these power lines after all the attention of the 2009 Storch crash. Perhaps we'll never know. Godspeed Paul.

Whenever I see crash reports in the news, I wonder if it is someone I know here. Because of the layer of anonymity we have with usernames, we could lose people that we've come to know in the forum without ever making the connection. One day they just stop posting.

I met Paul at a UBCP get together in Hutchinson. Super good guy and very engaging. He was one of those people that you instantly liked and wanted to be around. If you you can take 10 minutes and give 10 bucks, it would be matched by RAF, ShepRock and UBCP...
