PBY in San Diego

Hope this works. Never tried posting someone else facebook video, but we have some interesting aircraft gathering down here. All started this weekend with Facebook posts of a Stearman named Felix spotted on the surface streets of Coronado.

And Yesterday........https://www.facebook.com/taigh.ramey/vi ... 186382640/

Re: PBY in San Diego

Gotta love two radials in concert!

Seems to me someone should respond with a Martin PBM splashdown, given the SoCal venue...

I wonder if this anything to do with something a friend of mine is involved in.
He flew his T6 from western WA down to San Diego,
there to be loaded on a Navy ship & taken over to Hawaii.
It will be one of about 25 WW2 vintage aircraft there to aerially
commemorate the 75th anniversary of VJ day.

Yep. Thats whats going on. Too bad the pilot/owners dont get to ride on the Navy Ships. That would be a fun gig though

Re: PBY in San Diego

Both the two articles in our local newspaper seemed to indicate that the two pilots associated with the T6 will be going over on the ship with the airplane. They have to pass muster re covid testing & quarantining though.
