Petrolia on the Mattole

Has anybody done any recon or landed on the gravel bars between Petrolia (CA) and the mouth of the Mattole River?

Looks like a fun place to visit/camp :) Even with the earthquakes :)

Many years ago I was there (in a pickup) steelhead fishing, and remember the gravel bars being large enough to land on.

Re: Petrolia on the Mattole

Beautiful area! Drove through and camped with my pickup back in 2005, but have never explored by air. It might be sparsely inhabited enough that you could land one of those bars, camp, and never be seen by anyone the entire time. Frankly I'd be more concerned that pot growers would think I was a recon plane.
