Will be flying from FL across the south to NM then up along the Grand-canyon area and UT. North to OR and ID then into Canada to AK this May. Would like to me up with anyone along the way or any suggestions for places to camp and neat places to fly along the way. Hoping to get to Caveman but may not be back home by then. Plan to stop along there anyways due to all the nice videos about flying around there. Would be nice to find some neat short strips to play on along the canyons and rivers there.

DO NOT try to camp at Burwash. We almost ended up in jail in 2010.

Williams Lake sucks pondwater too... Long, expensive cab rides to/from town.

Man, things have changed up there. Last time I was in Whitehorse (2006) the FSS guys were warning a guy with a short-fueled experimental that he'd go to jail if he landed anywhere on the highway to stop for gas. Burwash Landing was always one of my favorite places to park on the road for some good truckstop food. Plus it's the best scenery along the entire Al-Can.

Whitehorse has treated us well. Few years ago we stopped overnight and had a judge with a Fleet Canuck, 185 on floats, and a Staggerwing drive us all over the place. Now you have Backcountry Tundra there, I would assume hospitality would be very good. AND, we are north of Kamloops with a nice grass strip about 5 miles from our house. PM me if that looks like we are on your route. Gump is right, Williams Lake is a pit, but Springhouse has a very nice grass strip, maintenance shop, fuel and very nice people. My float change happens there and my floats are there awaiting my arrival which will happen after the ducks come back north.

Thanks for the replys and a heads up on Burwash or landing on roads as that was part of the plan. Any input on where to get gas alone the route?
