PM errors

I tried to respond to the PM but all I get is a message in bold red letters that say. " The requested users to be added do not exist" and it won't let me send anything.... Beats me why,,, I am sure Zane the wizzard knows how to guide me through this hiccup.

Here was my message :

I can help you out. Altho I don't do much fishin I have alot of friends that do and there are numerous spots to dip a line away from the rat race. I fly every day looking at my irrigation ditches so I will now start scoping out some sweet spots for ya. As the time gets nearer get back to me and we can hone in on some areas. Maybe even take you for a early morning flight to show you the area and then you can make up your mind on what suits you best.

Tailwinds.

Re: Iceman

HHMM.. It might be my PM feature too. I have not PM'ed anyone since Zane sent Guido over to break my knees a while ago for acting up in here. [-X [-X .. Now that I think of it I never did send Zane the 10,000 bucks he wanted to reinstate me back into BCP. [-o<

Re: Iceman

I'm gonna bite my tongue here with the old man computer skills jokes.

I tested PMing Iceman from my account and the BCP Tutor test account. It works fine. There are no restrictions of any kind. If your inbox is full, oldest messages get booted out and the new one is added.

To reply to a PM, click the Reply button, type your reply, and click Submit. Don't mess with the Add or CC buttons up at the top of the message compose area. If you are adding another recipient, or starting a message from scratch, those buttons will validate that the user exists. If you've typed the username wrong, it will error saying "that user does not exist." To start a new PM to someone, the easiest way is the click the "PM" button under their avatar in a forum post and go from there.

Most of the time the bugs and errors are my fault, but I think this time I'm innocent.

Re: Iceman

Thanks Zane for looking at this......

Here is what I did.

I clicked on and read the PM.
On the bottom of that PM I clicked on Reply.
A new box popped up with icemans name in the top and the little box was checked.
I typed my message and hit submit.

What the heck did I do wrong ??? :? :?

I am sending that 10,000 bucks today..

Please call Guido and have him stop following me around. That Black Ford LTD he drives with small hubcaps and tinted windows is starting to give me the creeps..

Re: Iceman

Did you click the little "Add" button next to the recipient field perhaps? If so, that is unnecessary unless you're adding additional recipients.

Guido needs a place to stay tonight, perhaps you could... accomodate.

Re: PM errors

Update.

Thanks Zane for the troubleshooting.

The reply screen pops up with that box preclicked, or as a dummy would say it already had the X in it.

Strangly, I went back into BCP and logged in and is showed 1 PM unopened so I clicked on that. it was the same PM from earlier. I tried to send a test message and I got a screen that said I needed to add a subject title, so I retyped a test message and added Fishin to the title and then I hit submit. It appeared send ok. I then went to my account and then to 'sent PM' to see if it was added to my sent list and it said it went to iceman fishing... Somehow by doing that I added the title to the respondants screenname. Now I am really confused .. :? :? :? :?

Re: PM errors

I made a short instructional video just to eliminate the possibility of any user error. Maybe this will help, maybe it won't... Go fullscreen on this.

Re: PM errors

Just a tidbit of info in case another member has a question about personal messaging.
When you have sent a message, it will still show up in the OUTBOX, until the recipient reads the message. This is counter-intuitive I know. It really should not be in the outbox anymore. But, it is a handy confirmation function that someone actually read the message. I picked this info up from Zane's tutorial video on the subject. Some days it pays to pay attention... :^o

Flying is dangerous. If you think otherwise, you are new at this sport. Mind the gravity not the gap.
