I sent someone a private meassgae, a few days later I notice that it is in my "out box" not my "sent box". Wazzup with that? Did I send it? Or did it not get recieved/opened yet?

Messages stay in your outbox until the recipient reads them. Then they are moved to your sentbox. Until the person reads the message, you can edit or delete it.
