PNW impromptu

Since I broke my ankle in June, most of my summer flying plans got canceled. I had promised the wife that we would go to Stehekin this summer, but the wildfires in the are have it smoky and hazy right now.

We are planning an overnighter at 4S6, Tieton ( Rimrock State Park ), Friday 8/26-27. We have a new inflatable kayak the wife wants to try out.

10 day forecast looks great for this weekend.

Throwing out the invite for anyone to join in!

I'm surprised to hear that-- the webcams at Methow Valley are showing clear skies & I don't see any TFR's in the area. In fact, the only fire TFR's in the whole state are two near Spokane and one in Olympic Nat'l Park.
I would expect more due to the hot dry spell we just went through last week.

I don't think they are fighting it yet. It's pretty rugged where it was burning and looked uninhabited. It was sure filling all the canyons to the east with smoke. I was south of both Stehekin and the fire, but it sure looked like the air quality would be poor.

Rimrock looks good for this weekend...

Be sure and post a pirep after-- I can't make it this weekend, but am planning a trip down there with a couple friends in a week or two.
