Poor Maule drivers

I was just talking to my daughter in Idaho and she told me about someone wrecking a maule at the Jerome airport last week. The rumor mill has it that he had ground looped the day before and then stood it on it's nose and wing on a take off attempt out of Jerome.

There go the insurance rates again,

Anybody know any more about it?

While it is public information do you think that putting some persons name and address on a BB is a nice or neighborly thing to do?

If it was you would you like it if others did?

Just my 0.02.

The rest, well it is public information.

I keep getting upset that with my N number you can get all of that info, but if you tried doing that with an automobile tag number, you can't. I don't think it should be public info and don't understand how the public is served by releasing it.

That is the nice thing about the small numbers that are a different shade of blue.

And why I will keep the little numbers on my 140 when I repaint it. I see the big numbers all of the time and don't understand why. If I ever get the itch to take it out of country, removeable vinyl numbers are cheap.

I believe this was a student pilot with an instructor in the back seat.

Don't laugh, that is exactly how i got my first maule ride.I bought the maule, the owner sat in the co pilot seat and an instructor in the back.He watched me run the prop for 5 minutes and signed my high performance endorsement. He never flew a tailwheel so would not sit up front.Did not need tail wheel endorsement then. That was my only tail wheel ride with an instructor.I was very rough, but got her home to maine from washington state.Learned alot on that flight home. Was real scared at times in 20 knot winds. Not the smartest thing to do,but sure learned to fly a tailwheel in a hurry.Oh to be young and so smart again. This gettin older and dumber ain't what it's cracked up to be.Now they make a big deal out of this tailwheel endorsement, heck most pilots do not even thinki they are safe airplanes. To think i learned on my own.
