Preferred 8" Tailwheel Tire?
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
For you guys that are still running a baby 8" tail wheel tire - it looks like there are only two choices out there for the 2.80x2.50x4 tire, the Specialty Tires (STA) 4 ply and the Aero Classic 6 ply. Which one is preferred?

I don’t remember the brands but I had less than good experiences with the one with the zig zag tread on it. I wore through two of them in my 220 hours of C180 ownership, wheel landings only with no tail wheel shimmy ever. When I ended my relationship with the 180, I had switched to the one with straight groove tread for about 50 hours and had no complaints. I think the straight grooves look better, too...

I believe you are referring to the STA 4 ply tire.

I agree with the straight tread option, too. Like Asa, I can't remember where I got it. If I had to guess it might have been Airframes Alaska when I bought the 199-62 kit
