Re: Product support the way it should be!

I called Lightspeed the other day to complain about the headband pad on my 20-3G's. It looks like someone left them out in the sun for 3 years, or perhaps they were worn by someone who uses an intensely caustic hair product. The thin vinyl lining on the pad is tattered and shredded, and it leaves black flakes in my hair everytime I use them.

Anyway, I told them about it, how I've had them for 7 years, and how I don't use any hair gel. The woman I talked with wasn't so forthcoming at first until I told her that I thought they should just send me a new headband pad, as the slightly-newer-same-model pax headset did not exhibit the same problem, and she did.

So in my experience, they weren't super eager, but they did make good. I enjoy the fit and performance of my Lightspeeds, but I have had to sink some 6-32 screws through the ends of the band receiver after the plastic broke. They're even better than new now. :) I give them a 'B-' for long term quality ('A' for customer service though.)

Zane, I found out on one of my Alaska adventures, that mosquito repellent eats the Lightspeed ear cushions and head bands alive. They always replaced anything I ever ask for, so I still give them an A.

...remember, life is uncertain, eat desert first!

DEET is truly nasty stuff. I had it eat a plastic cover on a folding clock and asked myself if I really wanted to voluntarily put it on my body.

There is another compound "piperidine carboxylate" which goes by a number of trade names, one of which is Bayrepel.

It is difficult to find it in the 20% concentration (impossible in the USA?), but if you do it works as well as DEET and is not nearly as nasty.

I get it on line from www.pharmacy2u.co.uk trade name AUTAN Pump Spray. It will cost you more.

I noticed that same thing. Over the phone she was less then helpful. When I stopped by in person she bent over backwards to fix my headset issues. So overall, I guess an A-
