Propeller or Machete?

Bit of a disappointment the other day re: my propeller. I had shipped it up to a nearby NW state for an overhaul, as one blade was out of track and the leading edge looked like it had pistol grip finger indentions in it from being filed on so much by mechanics.

They took their time with it, and I was a little disappointed by that, but when it arrived, I was quite pleased with the quality of workmanship. I sent it off polished, but I had the prop shop paint it black with white tips, and they put some cool McCauley stickers on it. The blades were wrapped in large bubblewrap, and I only pulled the wrap off one blade to inspect it, figuring it was better left in the protective wrap until installation time.

Well, to my surprise, this was waiting for me on the trailing edge of the blade I hadn't looked at:

I assume it happened in shipping, but the bubblewrap and the cardboard box show very little sign of damage. Called the prop shop and they are going to fix it, but still I am disappointed. It looks like someone swung it like a sword and tried to chop down a carbide fireplace.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

It was probably an illegl immigrant that packaged or delivered it...you know, one of those jobs that no American wants.

Another good reason to immediately unpackage and inspect any high end items you order. Some shippers only allow 24 hours from the time of delivery to report a loss. Your lucky the shop stood behind it.

Fly It Like You Mean It!

Which prop shop in WA?

I'm familiar with both.... One pays absolute bottom dollar in
wages and has high(er) employee turn-over. The other doesn't....

Whichever shop it is, I hope they will make it right for you!
