Propeller value

Could anyone give me an idea of what a McCauley C204 with 88-90" is worth at 2048 TT it has not been overhauled. Also the value of the spinner including backing plate. This is off of a Cessna 180K and we are trying to decide whether to do the PPonk engine upgrade which doesn't allow this propeller, so it's $11k for the C401 3 bladed and we are trying to determine the out of pocket on the propeller swap if we were to sell the C204 set up.

Re: Propeller value

For what it's worth...and my info is totally dated, but I bought one for $2500 back in 2007. During that time I found another example, off of a K model 180 that was in good shape for about the same. sorry if the market has radically shifted but that's my direct experience.

Re: Propeller value

Bill is that just the prop or prop and spinner?

Re: Propeller value

Apologies, just the prop. All I needed was a rebuildable donor for the O-470 J to U conversion. I know it won't work, but always thought it was a bummer that the 90" 204 had to go when doing the PPonk.

Hope it works out well, keep us posted.

Re: Propeller value

FWIW I bought a run-out, no-logbook 88" C201 about a year ago for $1000.
And sold my mid-time 82" C203 for $1200.
I'd guess the spinner's probably worth about $500, with backing plate assembly maybe another few hundred.

Re: Propeller value

Yes it's a big bummer that there are not any two blade propeller options for the C180 PPonk STC. I know that people have received field approvals on the C66 and C58, but those are old technology compared to the newer threadless designs.
Thanks for the info on the value of the C204.
