Proposition for our A&P folks

I posted something to this affect on one of Bigrenna's facebook posts and I wish to start a discussion/proposition for our A&P guys like greg to help us non A&P types.

I have found a wealth of information on this site and with greg's site on things to be looking for in our birds as we purchase and fly them. I know I will never be an A&P and quite frankly do not want to be. I think that Greg's experience and expertise has value. I would like to propose that we figure out a way to maybe add another section to the website or even an off shoot for guys like me that would love detailed things to be looking for in our birds to make them better and healthier.
I am not looking for ways to fix them, I will leave that to the A&P, but if I where to have a way to look and see and know there is something wrong, then I can call it to my local A&P and have them fix it.

I wish I was in both the north east where greg could work on my plane or alaska where a lot of the other A&Ps of the site have hours and hours of 180/185 experience to work on my plane but that is just not possible. This seems like a viable alternative.

Greg, other A&P's, what do you think or am I just out in left field and off my rocker?

Re: Proposition for our A&P folks

I think this thread is a great idea! Not only A&P's but owners who know trouble areas on their airplanes should contribute. I will add items here soon.

NEVER tie an airplane down with chains! Inspect very carefully the wing strut attach point to spar for cracks. Chains have no give and if airplane is bouncing around in the wind when the chain slack is taken up there is no give so the attach point takes a beating.

Happy to help by translating anything to the knowledge base in an indexed format.

I'd also suggest that if you want anything archived for future reference, bag Facebook and post it here. Aside from my obviously biased position, anything posted to FB is fleeting and basically unfindable after a few weeks. But here it can have eternal life and we can organize it.

agreed, now we just need to get Bigrenna while he is on his commercial flights and others to start posting to index and file it for future reference.
