Pros and Cons of Metalized Aircraft

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Pros and Cons of Metalized Aircraft

I would be interested in knowledgeable opinions of aircraft that were originally fabric that have been metalized. What are the pros and cons? I have seen a couple of metalized Stinsons that have peaked my interest

Thanks,
Rick

My apologies to the group. I used a keyword search on "metalized" on the modification forum and did not come up with the information on the previous thread. It is great info. Please disregard anything further.

Don't worry about it. That search thing throws most of us for a groundloop.

When I was working on my submarine qaualifications I was having a problem figuring out one of the systems. Chief Zane (no crap, that was his last name) told me "Avery, you only have to be just a little smarter than the equipment you are working with".

Well it boils down to the most basic WANT=HAVE factor. If you want it, and you have the cash then you trade with the current owner.

Then hopefully you both are happy. If not....... such is life. Start the viciouse cycle all over again.

.....Jim Thomas' metalized cub.

Very interesting article. Thought provoking.
If a fella would start with Jim's airplane 8) and do this:

Humor may not make the world go around, but it certainly cheers up the process... :)
With clothing, the opposite of NOMEX is polypro (polypropylene cloth and fleece).
