PSA: DJI Mavic Pro bundle $799 at Costco

With the announcement of the new Mavic Air portable camera drone, DJI is offering a pretty good price cut on its super popular Mavic Pro unit. It's normally $999, offered here for $799.

Thing is, the Mavic Air is also being offered at $799 list price. While it's a little more compact and portable, and has some marginally better camera features (32 megapixel panorama photos, 1080p @120 fps. 100 mbps bit rate 4K) it does have a slightly shorter flight time and a transmitter/controller with no onboard display.

Tough choice. DJI innovates and releases products at such a fast rate.

You're not going to suddenly become a Trent Palmer level filmmaker, but you might capture some fun footage to show us here on BCP. 8)

Re: PSA: DJI Mavic Pro bundle $799 at Costco

My Dad bought me a DJI drone as a housewarming gift. I'm not super technical, but I can follow directions...reasonable ones, anyway. Or so I thought.

If I could share anything with DJI, it would be syphilis or a letter bomb. Worst company to deal with I've ever encountered...and I worked the fifth world for ten years.

Perhaps there's no better option in the budget drone world, but I'd rather deal with an overheated rattlesnake than deal with DJI. At least I'd have some respect for the rattlesnake.

Perhaps people who live in the world of systems and apps have better luck, but I've found the interface to be about as user friendly as a Inquisition Spanish Donkey.

If anyone is contemplating a DJI product and is adverse to spending hours in the world of updates, patches, and crashes, I'd advise against it.

My experience. YMMV.

Hanner I don't have the adjectives nor the similes to counter that glowing review. Feel free to send any flawed DJI products to my address 8)

I'm happy to do that Zzz, but I've already modified said DJI drone with what I think DJI deserves, so I'd wear goggles, rubber gloves, and probably a EOD bomb suit when you start it up. Also, you might want a snake capture stick handy...
