I have the inReach SE which has it's own built in battery which you charge up via USB and the battery life seems great. I leave it running for about 9 hours a day whilst flying and it only loses about 10% battery life. Not got the tracking enabled yet but will test this out next week as I'm on the cheap plan at the moment whilst I've been testing it out but will be upgrading to make use of the tracking feature.

Another option is a SatPhone with similar monthly costs.

I've had an Iriduim for years, and whether I am in the Congo or Tierra Del Fuego, I can call home.
