Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

I have hunted around the Pinedale area a few times. I really like the area. Actually, I really like all of Wyoming. Some things to know:

1. Wyoming is windy. Very windy.

2. As lots of the natives will tell you, if you don't like the weather, stick around for a couple of hours and it will change.

3. Pinedale is about 7,200 MSL.

4. You gotta like winter.

5. You gotta like in the middle of nowhere.

It takes a big man to cry. But it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

Hi. I live in Jackson Hole but have a ranch and my private airport, 2WY3, just outside of Pinedale in a little town called Merna. When I say little I mean it is about 11 mailboxes on a corner. :D ... Taxes are reasonable, people friendly. Winters can get pretty long but that weeds out the wimps. Altho it is kinda breezy around Pinedale the real winds are east of the devide...

Wyoming, it is not a state but a state of mind. !!

Grew up in Wyoming, I'd rather spend my winters here in North Pole Alaska.
Never knew snow fell from the sky growing up, always thought it just blew in from the West. First year in Fairbanks I sent a photo home of 3 ft of snow stacked up on top of a fence post! In Wyoming you see 3' snow drifts behind fence posts.

But if you can take the wind, it's really pretty country and nice folks.

I grew up in Wyoming also, Riverton to be exact. I have spent a lot of time around Lander, Dubios, Thermopiols, Cody, and Shoshoni. I am currently looking for property to buy. As soon as I can I will be moving back to Wyoming. Wyoming is a way of life not a place to live. Not all of Wyoming is windy all the time. Mostly the southern part of the state.

I love the hunting and fishing. There is a little spot we go fishing that I love. It is real nice, the last time we went fishing there we did not see another person all day!!! Some of the best memories I have is of my dad and I fishing in Wyoming.

God forbid we should ever be twenty years without a rebellion. ***Thomas Jefferson***

I lived in Star Valley (Western Wyoming). Loved it!

There's some truth here:

Pinedale, Wyo.

Glaciercub, if they can handle the winters they got it made. Pinedale way voted by Outdoor Life to be one of the top 10 places for hunting, fishing, back packing, etc in America. The way I found out about Pinedale was about 21 years ago, I was looking for a Cessna 180 and I found one in Pinedale owned by Jim McCullian, STOL might know him. I bought the plane and the following year I came back and bought some property over by Merna. Like STOL said, Merna is small but then again thats what makes it so neat. If I remember correctly, Pinedale does not have 1 stop light in town or in fact the whole county. They use to run cattle down the center of town during the round ups but not for sure if they still do it. That was neat to see.

As a pilot, I can't say that I ever grew up, but I got as tall as I am while living in Wyoming - Casper - and had planned on going back there to retire, but then my daughter and granddaughters moved to Montana, so that's where I'm heading next year. For all the years I have been in Texas I have had Big Wonderful Wyoming mud flaps on my pick'em up. No matter where I go, I have always considered Wyoming as my home.
