“ Virginia State Police said the pilot was 72-year-old Paul Jackson and he passed away in the crash.
"I seen him over there, he was talking on the phone at the time I came outside and he jumped in the helicopter. Sounded like it was running rough, he proceeded, he took off, he went behind the house, circled back around, came up towards Campview and I lost him in the fog," said Tyler Jones, who called 911 and reported the crash.
Jones said he saw Jackson leave the convenience store in his helicopter.
"I just heard a big explosion and I didn't hear the helicopter no more, so I jumped in my truck, came up here, seen it was on fire, called 911. In the process of calling 911 it exploded," Jones said.”

“ and served as President of the American Choppers Association through November. He logged thousands of volunteer hours last summer, ferrying relief supplies into difficult terrain in the western North Carolina mountains following deadly flooding during Hurricane Helene, using his own funds to pay for the gas.
Jackson was also noted in the Buggs Island Lake community for offering helicopter rides each year during Lakefest on the Fourth of July. He also logged dozens of trips across Virginia and North Carolina to take cancer patients out of town for treatment. He offered countless numbers of joyrides with friends throughout the region. He even offered flyovers during funerals for friends who requested it. Jackson dropped off teenagers at their proms in style, and used his helicopter to spice up outdoor weddings if asked.”
