Radial Engines(noise, smoke, etc.)

Howdy All, I have been doing some recording on my digital camera at work while testing these engines and thought some of you might enjoy some noise, smoke, fire etc. that these engines tend to produce when starting and running. they are some of my first attempts at recording so I hope someone can give some instruction if needed.

We try to start the mills on our old C47 once in a while. I love being there when we do it.

"Oh, look... a dead bird"

-looks up- "Where?"

Fun videos. You must need to tie that truck down pretty well!

Aren't round engines the best? Such a wonderful piece of machinery......Music to the ears. Makes me keep wishing for a DHC2 someday......

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Sounds a lot like my old pick up, smoke, belching and refusing to start. There two things that I ALWAYS pay attention to when I hear them, Harley's and Radials. One of those things that make a better day. Thanks!

While aviation has made the world a smaller place, if you fall, it's still hard to miss!

Definition of a REAL airplane:
Sits on it's tail and has one or more round engines.
I can hear a round engine from miles away...nothing like the sound...even if it's a spray plane I will always investigate.
Have tried to buy a radial that I could have on a stand and just start it up once in a while just to hear it run :D Image

The faster I go , the farther behind I get.

Every time one backfires and belches flame I start to laugh. I feel like I'm 8 years old again.
