President John McKenna attended our fly-in and gave a wonderful discussion on who the RAF is and what they are currently doing. He also asked members in the audience to raise their hands if they were a current member of the RAF. I figured I would create a poll to continue this to all of BCP. So, are you a member of the Recreational Aviation Foundation (http://www.theraf.org)?

These wonderful folks that volunteer their time, money and energy are at the font lines keeping airstrips open and creating pro aviation legislation. You do not have to give a financial contribution to become a RAF member (but it won't hurt either).

Also, if you haven't, please remember to vote for the RAF in the Lightspeed Aviation Foundation $10,000 give away.

Don't forget about the Idaho Aviation Association! Also a great organization and does great things for back country flying. They seem more active in Idaho than RAF. We should all be a member of one or the other.

Don't forget the Montana Pilots Association and Utah Back Country Piots. I do believe that Raf deserves top priority, but personally I support/contribute to any organization that works to procure, preserve our backcountry airstrips, and fight legislation against backcountry flying and the backcouuntry airstrips.

I feel if you enjoy this activity the least you can do is contribute some financial support, and if you can, contribute physical support too. If we don't all help, we are subject to one more freedom bein taken away. You know there are those out there that would love to see backcountry flyin shut down. It is a constant battle.

Donated in 2010 with the stash of cash I had sent as payment for the Caveman Ranch fly in that we could not make. Been a member since and appreciated the involvement RAF had in the Rec. Aviation Use Staute in this state and hopefully coming to a state near you.

The annual fly in for RAF members was held at Ryan Field this weekend. Left last night after dinner as the forecast was not good for today. Those who stayed got stuck.

I send them all at least $10.00 and some I pay the full dues. Never had anyone send the 10 back and say not enough. Usually get a nice thank you.

Don't forget the OregonMaule mogas foundation. Dedicated to keeping the 0-540 flying. 100% of the proceeds go for gas, no administrative overhead!

I live on the East coast and fly grass strips all over New England. The RAF is as important here as it is in the West and being a member, I feel ,is the right thing to do. Once a year I fly to Idaho , Wyoming, Colorado, and Montana to fly the back strips. It's two of the best weeks of the year for me and I look forward to it every year. I'm also a member of IAA,AOPA,and EAA. It's really important to support these organizations.

This thread made me look at the group closer, I am now a member as of Independence Day. This group works for Independence from the over burdensome laws, it was a natural fit.

I'm still waiting to here back from the RAF to see if I'm still a member. I know I signed up and sent in money a few years ago. But not sure if it's a yearly renewal I hadn't sent any money the last few years though. Maybe a should send in some now.

Edit: Their ears must have been burning. Just got an email saying that I wasn't a member. But I'm all signed up now!
