Raffle to buy raffle tickets?
A general forum for anything related to flying the backcountry. Please check first if your new topic fits better into a more specific forum before posting.
Over the past week, I've put a lot of effort into calling the Alaska Airmen Association to try and buy raffle tickets. No call backs and the only time I'be gotten through the "system was down". Ticket sales are now on hold until next tuesday when the last 50 tickets will be sold. Has anybody, who isn't an insider up there, gotten any tickets? I'd like to know this is a legit operation.

It's legit, they have the cub they raffle at the show every year. Sorry you couldn't get through to them.

It is very legit. I have tickets and I am definitely not an insider. I think you were just a bit late.

The only way they can sell tickets is in person or by phone. The Airmen’s isn’t a huge organization, so their phone and office isn’t manned 24-7.
It’s a real raffle.

I have tickets. Not an insider.
They seem to sell out earlier every year. I like the way they are doing it this year... credit card over the phone and they email you the tickets which you print. Previously they mailed a paper ticket. This year I had my tickets in my hand a few minutes after hanging up the phone.
They could certainly sell more tickets but it would dilute the chance of winning. I like the fact that they limit them to a reasonable number.

They also had a self-service kiosk at Northern Lights Avionics at Merrill Field. That’s where I bought my golden ticket.
Only a week and a half until I get my new Cub!

Was just by Northern Lights Avionics and the kiosk was gone and the gal at the counter said the tickets were sold out.

I was hoping they were legit. Thanks for the feedback! I'll just start earlier next year.
