Removing tw casting from stinger on older C-185

Hey gang-
Trying to help a neighbor put an ABI 3450 Tw assembly on his '67 185, not having much luck getting the casting off the stinger tube. Any tips of persuasiveness? I've done most of what I can think of... still applying Aerokrall, tried a little heat, pounding it aft with mallet etc. I'm trying to not beat the crap outta the casting LOL.... Ideas welcome. I'm sure it has never been off.
Additional ideas that worked for you?
Thanks

They were often glued on with construction adhesive. Apply enough heat to soften the adhesive. Even then it's tough.

FWIW I don't think ABI recommends using adhesives on their products. That's an old technique. (I'll probably catch flak from someone who glues them on but I called ABI and asked and that's what they told me.)

I have had success using dry-ice (-109F) packed around the stinger to cold-soak same, followed by dipping casting in boiling water (+212F).
Advise wearing face shield and heavy gloves.

Yeah... it took a call to the mechanic who installed it and a lot of heat from my heat gun to remove mine. Plus help from a hangar neighbor, a pipe wrench, and ugly words. I elected to install my new one without adhesive. I'll just check it often to insure it's still attached.

Look me up if you get some time in BNA.....
