Renting a Beaver in AK
Information and discussion about seaplanes, float planes, and water operations.

Now for the second half of this tall story: the gentlemen claims that while he was in a full arm and shoulder cast he rented/piloted and flew a Beaver, Is there any one that would conceder renting a Beaver to a pilot in a shoulder cast? Is there any one in Alaska that rents amphibious Beavers? Total BS I think.

You used to be able to, but some guy in an arm cast crashed it a few years back.

Total BS is correct.
And that video wasn't a rental, and the pilot wasn't in a cast. Maybe if he had been he'd have done better.....

Can you rent a Beaver anywhere (not just AK), with or without a shoulder cast? I know Kenmore and at least one more place gives instruction, but rent one?

The winner is the person with the most stories when he dies, not the most gold.

That "pilot" who wrecked that beautiful Beaver needs casts on both arms so he can't buy, or fly, another airplane. I think the Beaver is airplane #3 he's wrecked in recent years.

I think your yanking our chains, com'on, submerged floats and flying with a full arm cast. What's next, another friend piloting a commercial jet with a frontal lobotomy.

Gump, you guys are hard on the young crowd.... they don't even know what the Bush Company is. And what you can catch there.... I mean rent. As far as airplanes go, no operator in my years in Alaska rented out a DHC-2. NO WAY. Pure bullshit.

Flying is dangerous. If you think otherwise, you are new at this sport. Mind the gravity not the gap.

Plenty to rent without going to the Bush Company. Just walk down Spenard at night.
And pure BS is right.....
