river of no return

I may be late to the party on this as I haven't posted in quite some time but here goes.... has anyone else found a program on discovery channel titled "River of no return"...found this last night on discovery at 9 or 10 PM ... totally filmed in idaho and follows three stories in the Frank Church and the rest of Idaho... one of the stories follows an air taxi op.... sawtooth aviation i believe and another is Mackay Bar ranch... used to be a great stop Mackay Bar but the new owners excluded gen aviation and wanted to cater to only their guests.. don't know whether that's changed but the show is done well and the flying is pure idaho back country..anyway seems to be a sunday series on discovery if anyones interested...

Found it on Hulu. Sensationalized like most things on Discovery, but I haven’t moved my ass off the couch since I turned it on.

curious.. how many episodes have gone by... i just saw that one...and yes just like the gold shows which are somewhat scripted and sensationalized it appears they enhance situations for the sake of viewership... anyway it's good to see canyons and areas i have flown over every summer since 1997....

A lot fewer trees, now. There are still nice forested areas, but I'm glad I saw places like Chamberlain before the fires. I'm hoping our son might see it all green again in his lifetime, but if the second growth burns before it can mature, the whole landscape will change for a long, long time. The young lodgepole thickets are amazing, and dense fuel.

Re: river of no return

I just watched a trailer for River of no Return on Discovery channel. Looks like another scripted, over dramatized show, that could have otherwise been good.

Or, is there a different show or documentary?

Re: river of no return

so far i've seen two episodes... yeah it's probably scripted to look like reality but the scenery is good, they kind of highlight mackay bar ranch a bit... the other two stories are back country folks on back country ranches and their daily problems and solutions....does anyone know if Mackay Bar has changed their policy to once again allow general aviation to land and do breakfast like sulphur creek.... they did have a pretty good breakfast when it was open to us...

The interviews and stories are ok, if a little over-dramatic. I wish that the Disco Channel would ditch the terrible "danger drums and ominous low strings" sound track and the "if they cannot do [blank], they could die" narration. MUTE! Really tiresome. I do like the scenery, though, so I watch anyway.
