I can't see how that can be patented. It's a third party product (branded air shock) that has been used for kinetic dampening on just about everything imaginable. From car hatch backs, bicycles, motorcycles, trucks and about any machine you can think of. I can't see how there would be any ability to litigate an infringement just on that bases alone. Just curious of what angle the patent attorney used to secure a patent protection.
BTW in most of the information and advise I have read is that patents are a waste of money unless you have something worth millions Then you can get the big guns on your side that can afford to litigate infringements. If your an average Joe Shmoe getting a patent is an advertisement on your idea. If it's a good Idea and you have not secured partners with financial backbone and some big corp decides to steal it by reading up on it. Then good f'ing luck protecting it. You will litigate yourself into the poor house in short order.
Thinking a bit bigger. In today's world of Chinese industrial espionage. The smart thing to do is stay the f'k away from the patent office and produce, BRAND and distribute your product as fast as you can. Before the Chinese get wind of it and knock it off. Hopefully by then you have made your money and the product has run it's course. The last thing you want to do is go to court and incur the massive costs of getting in a legal war with an off shore offender. You will waste time and money.
I think it would be an interesting topic of discussion about bring unique airplane related stuff to market. The risks, marketing, networking and such, cause Im sure there are more than a few closeted inventors on this forum with stunning ideas that we can all benefit from.
