for location how about using a search bar for a airport or zip code?

I like it and I think the airport code would work great. I'll try and shoehorn that somewhere on the dropdown panel sometime next week!

Thanks, Matt

Feel free. In fact, if you want to embed an IFRAME right in the site in a smaller window, go right ahead.

Or you have a techie on your side, I wrote a quick public API to allow me to access the data from the backend that collects it every hour. You could use it to put a ticker/graph/whatever for specific passes with trending weather without being forced to display the Google Maps interface. I am just brainstorming; I am happy to help you guys out however you like.

(Patrick R knows about this and has been wicked helpful btw)

Sweet, we'll get that added here in the next few weeks. This is very helpful.

Hope to see you around soon!

Search-by-airport feature went in today. Check out the bottom left...

Bottom left hand corner of the entire map window is a small input box with a "find" button.

You may need to refresh your web browser if you are on a computer; that should make it pick up the new code. I am not sure how to force a page reload on a tablet but, once you do that, it should display the new stuff...

Excellent! Some of the graphs were getting too busy so I am playing with ways to limit the timeline a bit...

I added a bunch of airports around the Portland area today as well.

Yeah, I know...

I stumbled across a database of airport codes and their coordinates for all 50 states (AK and HI included) and wrote some code to automatically add the ones that have a reporting AWOS station. So now I'll just throw storage at the thing and let it grow and grow... :)

I guess I should change the domain name to something more descriptive now since it isn't just Colorado anymore.

Re: Rocky Mountain Region Weather Trending Website

Colorado pilots, http://www.COwx.net is all ours now (now even displaying the Density Altitude as it trends every hour. ~12.8K at Leadville today! )

For anyone outside Colorado, http://www.AWOSlog.com has just about every reporting AWOS station I could find for lower 48, Hawaii, and Alaska.

Both sites share the same data; the CO one just zooms in to Colorado by default so we can embed it on other Colorado specific backcountry websites.

Enjoy!
