Roosevelt Lake AZ

Was considering flying to Grapevine airstrip this weekend for overnight camping and fishing. My understanding is this runway is open the last weekend of each month, but then I read only to organized events. Need a Pirep. Can the lake be accessed from the runway? Can a tent be pitched near the plane?
Thanks,
Dave.

All of the info is available at the Arizona Pilots Association website.

Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.
Yes that's where I got the info I have. Wanted some pilot confirmation and any advice.

Hi Dave. I thought that more AZ pilots would have chimed in by now.
I've only been there once but I'll add my 2 cents.
It's going to be hot there this time of year. Yes you can camp there and yes you can walk down to the lake. The area is a little scrubby and thorny next to the strip, rocky too.
Go to pleasant valley (young) if you want cooler temps.
Good luck and let us know how it went.
