Not necessarily information about airstrips or airports, but more general info about a greater area or a route of flight.

Roseburg/Glide OR info needed

If I can finagle a shift trade at work I am planning on heading down to Glide for a 3rd of July BBQ. I plan on flying SPB to McKenzie Bridge, Toketee, overfly Crater Lake and then on to Glide or Roseburg. Anyone have any local knowledge about the private airstrips in the Glide area? Are they open to outside visitors? Umpqua and Glide Aero look close to town, saving my friends a 20mile trip to Roseburg. Roseburg is my backup plan. I heard from Tom? at JC that they have may have a courtesy car, anyone know for sure.

Thanks,

Matt

Re: Roseburg/Glide OR info needed

Brother Matt,
I will be out at the RBG airport today. I know one of the residents on the Umpqua private airstrip. If he's in town I will tell him about your plan to visit Glide and see if we can get permission for you to go in there. Word of warning, it's not a good afternoon strip. Crazy winds swirl around in the valley floor right at the approach end of the runway. More than one load of scrap metal in the drainage swail along the runway.
The city of Roseburg recently placed a courtesy car at the Roseburg airport. I would recomend giving the FBO a call for your options if you plan on using the car.
Check your PM, I'll send you some info.
Hope your shift trade works out.
