Rudder retract handle rigging

My 185 is equipped with the EDO part no. 54699 water rudder retract lever. I don't think it was rigged right when I had my floats installed last year. I wasn't getting enough travel. I need about 12". Last Fall the cables were almost completely severed at the swage where they pin into the handle. Does anybody have a manual to show how the cable is threaded, and where it is to be anchored? A sketch or photo might also be all I need.

Here is an illustration, but not clear. Pg. 12 of 19 in the pdf. Numbered pg. 14 on the bottom of the page. Figure 6, item 67. http://www.kenmoreairharbor.com/uploads ... rplane.pdf

If I can get 12-13" travel, I won't have to put the Aerocet lever in. I'd like to stick with the existing so I don't have to molest the tunnel or upholstery, as bad as it is.

I experimented with a piece of safety wire and a weight tonight. For sure I'm only getting 9" of travel rigged the way it was last summer. The wires come up over the fixed pulley, item 11, bend forward and go under the pulley in the end of the lever, and anchor on pin 24 closest to the lever hinge. The other 24 pin is the striker for the latch on the lever.

I think if the cable anchored further from the lever, I'd get more stroke. I'll look for optional anchor points tomorrow.

This served with EDO 2790s, and 2960s. Do they only require 9" travel to lift the rudders?

Re: Rudder retract handle rigging

I installed a a rudder retract lever on a 185 with aerocets, had to play with the cable lengths where they split to get the right amount of travel or as close to stop to stop as possible.

keep them flying!

Re: Rudder retract handle rigging

One of the nice things about this lever is that both cables are anchored to the lever. There is no split.
