Santa please monitor this thread !

Couldn't find the vest discussion again so I thought I'd start a new one. Also, it might be easier for Santa (or one of his elves,,, like my co-pilot, Hi Honey ;-) ) to find this way.

Here is a pretty cool way to go and Oakley makes top notch stuff, IMHO...

Atta boy EA, that vest is perfect.
Zane, I think handhelds are cheaper, and have better graphics. They can also be mounted where ever you like. You can also take it with you if you have to walk away from the plane. This is nice for flight planning too. The Volkls are an excellent choice.

Oh don't get me wrong, the 296 or 396 is a must have(terrain, color, play with it on the couch at home)... but the panel-mount/radio combo is nice too and it's just...always there.

Eric,

Do you want the DC-3 or all the things Santa can fit in it...or both?

N6EA,

I ordered the Oakley vest to check it out a couple of weeks ago. Very small pockets, a bunch of 'rad' metal clips to integrate with their 'pack system.' I didn't find it appropriate for a wear every flight sort of vest, so I sent it back.

YMMV.

Marc,

Thanks for the info.

Santa, scratch the vest. While your at Garmin, picking up Zane's 430, could you grab one for me also. If there's room on the sleigh, I would also like a set of Micro Dynamics vortex generators. You might also check and see if they have an STC for the sleigh. They'll make the ol' ride handle much better at low airspeeds on those approach's to those small roof top's. It's a great way to go, especially if your reindeer are getting old and tired and you need a bit more of a margin of safety.

BTW, I have installed pilot acctuated lighting on my roof. Key the mike three times on 122.9 and it'll make it easier on you during the approach. (Keep in mind that Hog Mountain is directly to the North of my house and the go around potential is extremely limited)

Did you hear about when Santa took his Part 135 checkride, as required for all freight operators? The DPE climbed aboard the sleigh packing a double-barrel 12 gauge. Santa , somewhat flabberghasted, asked what that big old shooter was for? The examiner told him " well, you just might lose one on takeoff....."
