Sasquatch - another reason to avoid Nevada

Ok, for any not yet convinced to avoid the barren wasteland called Nevada, here is one more reason. They'll probably start feeding on people before much longer. We grow em big:

Probably Coyote Ugly's cousins living in those hills by Jarbidge.

Naw.... Nevada is a barren desert wasteland. Nothing but flat, hot sand. Nothing to see here!

Re: Sasquatch - another reason to avoid Nevada

To pull this all together .
The last time ancient Lake Lahontan dried up (late Pleistocene) was about 10000 years ago. Besides the few lakes now existing it left dry lake beds including Blackrock (home to Burning Man) and "Dead Cow" ( home to BCP fly in in October).
When I was a Great Basin Archaeologist a number of years ago, two others and I spent three weeks on an archaeological survey on horseback covering the Jarbidge. Didn't carry a gun and never thought of Big Foot. The horses never did either! And yes Zane, that is unbelievable beautiful country. Outside of the Jarbidge Wilderness area I used a J3 sometimes and never saw anything out of the ordinary.
No tales to tell.

The image of this guy quivering and crying in fear with his Glock .45 in hand has me crying.

Re: Sasquatch - another reason to avoid Nevada

Ha, called my bluff Gump. Nevada is not like I said. Just ask any of the 70000 burners out there now in the blowing playa dust. Actually big foot could wander around Blackrock City and nobody would notice.

He mentioned 13 rounds, so likely .40 S&W. Barely adequate, assuming he had the specially hand-loaded Sasquatch hollow points.

Re: Sasquatch - another reason to avoid Nevada

This whole story is comedic gold.

During one of the silent periods the one behind me started to urinate just feet from my head. That put a whole new scared into me for some reason.
The volume had to be 2 or 3 times that of a man urinating.

Re: Sasquatch - another reason to avoid Nevada

And if the Sasquatch story isn't enough:

The name Jarbidge is said to translate from the Shoshone Indian language to, "Monster that lurks in the canyon" or "weird beastly creature." According to legend, Shoshone braves chased the creature into a cave in the present Jarbidge Canyon and blocked its escape with rocks and boulders.

Another source says the Shoshone word, "Tsawhawbitts," meaning "man-eating giant" is the root of the name Jarbidge.

Yet another source say Jarbidge stems from the Nez Perce Indian word "Jahabich," which means "devil." It was their name for the nearby mountains, which they believed to be haunted by an evil giant.

Gump, you'd better be careful roaming those hill least one gets the urge to scare you off by pee'ing!
