Saw a P-51 Reno Racer out and about today

We have the Jelly Belly Jellybeans sponsored P51 Reno Racer on our field. He just had the engine rebuilt and they have been trying to hunt down a vibration in it for months now. They finally sent the accessory drive off and found one of the gears were a couple teeth off. Anyways I was putting my airplane away this morning and heard it take off. It must be running good because he did 3 full speed passes down the runway about 10ft off the deck and then did some rolls over the top of the field. Man I love the sound of a Merlin wide open. I walked over where it's hangared after it taxiied back in and the pilot was hooting and hollering when he opened the canopy. They have been down for almost a year between the rebuild and troubleshooting. The whole crew was pretty stoked to get it running good again.

A gallon a minute is all it takes...
Let's see, $4.60 a gallon times 60 minutes = $275 an hour for gas.
Makes the 185 seem like a deal.
Plus I can take my camping gear and the dogs :)

BTW, it was 14 months worth of frustration.

Joey, you need to move down to the fun row of hangars :)
