Anyone here planning on going to the Schafer fly-in/work session this weekend? I've never attended in the past but was considering going this year and wanted to get some more info on what to expect/what time to show up, before deciding to go.
Any info appreciated.

I go every year. For the actual work part we meet at the Ranger Station at 9 am. The work will last til about noon. We always get there by Friday as most people fly in by then. I always camp by my plane instead of the campground. It's too cold in there in the mornings and way too noisy on this particular weekend. A guy in a 310 flys in the food for Saturday night. He always has and it's always a secret as to what he's going to bring. We've had everything from 50 boxes of pizza, to burgers and chips, to peel and eat jumbo shrimp, to prime rib cooked buried in a pit on top of the buried coals. We got to smell that one all day as it cooked. Most people will fly out Sunday morning, there's always a few knobs that have to blast off at 6 am.

Sounds like fun.

What time do you usually eat (I'm not showing up just for food, but would like to get an idea of when I'll be back in Helena Saturday night.)

Around 6 pm. You'd have plenty of time to make it back to HLN.
