Search in Forums?

Searching on a topic in the forums returns a list of threads, but doesn't seem to narrow down which exact posting contains the search terms. Am I missing something? or is the search function really this way?

The PHPBB search function kinda sucks. You're much better off using Google and confining the search to one website.

Example of Google search:

Code: Select all
tailwheel low landing site:backcountrypilot.org

or to see results that don't include the term "bush"

Code: Select all
wheels -bush site:backcountrypilot.org

Problem is, the thread title doesn't appear in the search results. I'll change that, and in a few weeks they should be updated in the Google search

Thanks, I'll try that.

Good tip, Zane. I never noticed before that Google advanced search offers to search only one site. It worked fine.

thanks,

Hey Zane,

I was trying to find a list of old pm's that I've recieved and sent. Is there a way to look them up, without waiting for a new one to show up?

I wanted to buy a PLB and someone on here had a business with good prices that pm'd me once???

But while I was looking for that, I saw your ad for Chief's PLB, so I called them. The lady knew nothing about them. Said they didn't sell them? She did give me your father's voice mail, so I left him a message.....and he just now called back!! I guess I need to do more home work.

I still would like to know how to find old pm's.

thanks,
John G

John,

While you're logged in, and in the forum, look in the upper right hand corner of the page. There is a menu with items like Recent Topics, Memberlist, Start Here, etc. Click "No New Messages." That takes you to your PM Inbox. Above the Inbox listing are 4 links: Inbox, Sentbox, Outbox, and Saved.

Unless you deleted your PM after you read it, it should be in your Inbox.
