Seat covers

My 170 has a decent Airtex interior, even if it is a little older. I'd like to find some sort of quick install seat covers to protect my seats from dirt and ass-sweat. Any suggestions?

Re: Seat covers

Z....when I first bought my 170 the seats weren't all that great....my WIFE made me slip over seat covers until I got the seats and door panels all rebuilt by a shop in Kimball NE. Since as far as I know you don't have a WIFE :? , maybe you could find a seamstress who could make them out of certified material. I will look but I don't think I have my old slipovers still around.

You might be able to get some of these Oregon Aero Portable Soft Seats in an ass-sweat-repellent fabric.

Re: Seat covers

I have several options for you. First, get a real job and quit playing around with this site, go to a nice shop and spend $5-10 K. Then you could put some plastic over everything so that you won't scratch anything with your camping gear.

OR, throw a beach towel over everything, don't worry about it, and DON"T raise the subscription rates for BCP!

Only 110 degrees today, sure you don't want to visit? And, where are you??

Re: Seat covers

I like the beach towel idea. Simple, cheap, multi-use. I actually used one last weekend after washing the plane and taking it up for dry-off flight. I was soaked through to the chones, but it was 90F out it felt great.

Ford, I've been at the coast with the in-laws. Sorry I've been missing your calls, will call ya back soon.

Re: Seat covers

The seats were looking pretty ratty on my 170 about 5 years ago, so I talked to a couple aircraft &/or hotrod upholstery shops about recovering. After I recovered from the sticker-shock-induced faint, I went down to the local NAPA Airmotive and bought a set of "Saddleman" blanket-style seat covers for car bucket seats. A little nip-and-tuck work later I was good to go, for under $25-- looked pretty good, worked great.
