Seat reupholstery

Looking for a walking foot upholstery machine with reverse....hopefully in Alaska. My heavy duty sewing machine will sew through three layers of leather but..... Not enough stitch tension and uneven stitch length... Two layers ok...but I have to really concentrate on pulling the material through/under the stationary foot to insure an even stitch lenght.... NOT.....want/need a different machine. I've looked at Craig's list in Alaska and Alaskaslist... One in Fairbanks...haven't called yet... Need/want to find one for sale where the seller is willing to disassemble for shipping to the other side of the middle of no where.

Maybe call Fine Line Upholstery, Alaska Tent and Tarp, and Apocalypse Design to see if they have any old equipment for sale?

I got mine off Searchtempest (craigslist aggregator). Dozens are available for well under a grand (Jukis, Singers, etc). Mine will go through a few layers of heavy tack buffalo rawhide or several layers of vinyl without sweating. If your foot isn't feeding properly, try adjusting the bottom feed. You can often adjust the penetration depth to feed just about anything. On mine, I just pull like hell on the other side to keep the top even if the foot itself isn't grabbing to keep things even with a thick stack of material. The bottom feed is adjusted to grab well enough to make really even spacing.

There are usually adjustments to adjust the lower tension as well that many people don't realize. The topside tension range can often be fixed to match as well.

Ha! The door intentionally swings out to prevent wind driven snow and rain from coming in. We see 70 mph winds often....especially during the spring thaw. The wind pushes the door against the gasket...keeping the snow drifts out side. I do have one door that opens in.....it's in the shop end of the building.

On my machine...not an industrial unit. Can increase the foot pressure. Increase the thread tension/s at the bobbin holder and the thread going through the needle. I'm using hollow ground needles for leather.... Just not enough machine to do the Job....thanks....

I couldn't find one in AK that I liked.
Already had a good machine in UT.

I really missed being able to do even the simple sewing projects.
So I dismantled and shipped my Consew from Utah via the post office.
I was skeptical that I could get them to take the table but I took the motor and legs off and banded the legs to the table top and boxed the motor/clutch assembly and the machine itself.
I wound up with 4 packages to get it done!
No problem for the USPS.
Heading back to Homer on Tuesday and hoping it all makes it about a day or two after I get back.
Cost was about $280

There are a few really good ones suitable for heavy upholstery for sale in Anchorage for under 400.
