My old 180 seats still have the original aluminum rollers. The pilots seat rocked on the rails-- very disconcerting when it happened hitting a bump on short final, but the copilot's wasn't bad so I switched them. Might be that the rails are worn, but they still pass the AD plus they're spendy to buy and labor-intensive to change out so I don't want to replace them. But I've been thinking of replacing the rollers with McFarlane's new-fangled nylon rollers. A kit with 4 rollers & 4 bushings (enough for one seat) is about $70 at Skygeek. Has anyone installed these? What's the verdict? They don't cost a fortune, but if they wouldn't be much of an improvement I'd rather spend the money on gas.

I replaced both sets of front seat rollers with McFarlane rollers and bushing and I've been happy with them. I also went ahead and replaced the AN bolts, nuts, and washers while I was at it.

They are great and last forever. They are way slippery compared to the old aluminum rollers and Cessna washers. Just make sure you get the proper kit there are a few of them.

If you have the early steel seat frames, they are pretty easily bent (or more likely) remove an existing bend to remove the play at the rollers

Get the rollers, you wont be disappointed.
Also, get a copy of the AD so you can check your seats when you replace the rollers.
The AD is for the rails AND the feet and the pins that go into the rail and hold the seat.

If your seats articulate, it's a good time to check for broken pins or cracks in the seat parts.
