Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
I always did think that AST paint scheme was nice!

God put me here to accomplish a certain amount of things...right now I'm so far behind, I'll never die!!
N7058 was the one I customized. When we finally got it back to Anc, Ken Daniels said he threw everything away but the numbers and when he gave it back to me it was the first 180 HP cub in the fleet. What a rocket, I thought, I need to wreck several more of these old worn out cubs.
Flying back to the airstrip with crumpled landing gear, knowing the next landing was going to be a wreck was interesting.

Just goes to show you that you can't keep a good data plate down.

I remember that Chip. Think I was there and recall you did a fine job landing considering the circumstances

Think we had similar experience with that plane

It was a dog before they rebuilt it, great plane after. Ken said they never could figure out why it's weight was so much more than any of the other cubs outfitted just the same way.

Yes Don, you were the one who went back to get that hunter off that island I was trying to rescue when I tore off the landing gear.
It was the gear on the same side, I think you must have weakened the gear for me, it couldn't have been that car sized chunk of ice I hit.

Ken Daniels......now there's a blast from the past. Ken worked on my plane after he moved to Kodiak. I flew his 175 with the O 470 some down there.....speaking of rockets.

Mike sure u know Ken .... he was just across the ramp in the State Hgr. Sure he and your folks traded parts and equipment and knowledge back in the day

There was and unsubstantiated rumor that Ken could magically adjust flanges on crank shafts that may have had prop strikes. But I am sure it was rumor
